An activity that can take up a whole evening. Tests Cub/Scouts creativity, teamwork, and basic skills (like using scissors which many kids can't do nowadays. Bloody snowflakes).

What you need:

- Newspapers, cereal boxes, cartons, tubs, boxes, random cardboard, milk cartons, any crap you've got laid around basically.

- Scissors

- Tape

Method:

In their sixes or patrols, the Scouts need to use the items to build something to a theme and then the leaders judge which is best. So we did it to the theme of London. Cubs built London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, and Battersea Power Station. I even got in the spirit and built Windsor Castle... (or the Royal father-in-law watching the big day on TV from the US, rather)

To make it fair, the Cubs were told to take three carrier bags each of items (they didn't look through them first) and then there was a general pile of crap put in the middle for everyone to use.

I did something similar to this in primary school where we needed to build bridges to hold the heaviest weight.
